stay in school program

Based on a nationally acclaimed drop-out prevention model, YCI’s Stay-in-School program incorporates best practices and qualified youth counselors in order to assist at-risk students at selected public high schools throughout the Miami-Dade district.

Specific risk factors such as high absenteeism, multiple suspensions, low grades, and limited English proficiency are highly correlated with dropping out of school. As students are identified by school counselors, they are referred for participation in the Stay-in-School program.

An innovative system of incentives and programs includes individual counseling, family mediation, tutoring, leadership development, mentoring, social services, internships, summer jobs and part-time employment after school, if needed. By tailoring success strategies to meet individual needs, youth counselors work closely with students and their families to overcome those barriers which prevent students from earning a high school diploma.

Each year, over 300 students receive assistance and opt to continue their studies at senior high schools through participation in the Stay-in-School program instead of dropping out of school!

If you are between the ages of 14-24 and need assistance obtaining your High School Diploma or find employment for the Holidays / Summer, our Youth Program may be for you! Our programs are available FREE of cost.
